The Martian

sometimes the encouraging words you need to hear come from unexpected people.  One of my favorite and smartest product expert colleague just told me "they got the best person for the task in you"

When i am beginning to have small doubts - this gets thrown in my way in the middle of the work day.  Good thoughts ❤😍😊

Itchy Feet

You,

"The feeling of discovering a new place / country is synonymous to opening an enormous Christmas gift."

People travel for different reasons: for business or work, for holiday or to have time away from reality or from work, to heal from all sorts of pain, to go shopping, to make friends, to learn about other cultures/food/politics/belief systems, to discover things about himself/herself that would otherwise be unknown if he/she remained in the same safe/comfortable environment for the rest of his/her life.

I have gotten the lucky chance to travel on several occasions for almost all of the above.   Among all the things/experiences/people that made life worth living,  I am mostly grateful for this.  Else, the following would have all been what-ifs on my death bed:

THAILAND. Mar. 2015.
On the 20th of March 2015, around 4 pm in outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand, I sat around this humble table with a Thai Friend's family and relatives - waiting for a newly opened small business blessing that I was happy to be invited to.

It's the first time that I've witnessed a business blessing being done by Buddhist Monks.  Also first time to bond with everyone with Leo Beers as early as 4 pm - perfectly normal around here.

The young lady with faux-blonde hair is a bright, energetic budding entrepreneur with a startup shop in Chatuchak Market during this time.  She just recently graduated from College, but already had this winner mindset.

INDONESIA. Feb. 2015.
From RFID/Technology Conferences, to the extremely satisfying seafood at Seafood City, Bandar, Jakarta, Indonesia.  I've discovered Indonesian's many similarities to Filipinos -- such as family-orientedness which extends not just to immediate family but also work colleagues, not allowing their guests to go hungry, and to letting them experience harsh realities in the country but all received with a big SMILE.  This time, bonding is celebrated over Bintang over Leo :)

Thailand. Oct. 2014.
Gotta make sure the tags are working. :)

Laos. 05.2013.

Brunei Darussalam. June 2014.

Chance to know a progressive Muslim Country that accepts Singapore Dollars.

How to Deal when Life Happens to You

Bad or good things that happen to you are always only temporary.  Emotions are fleeting.  The only thing real is WHAT IS HAPPENING TO YOU in the PRESENT.

We can plan all we want for the future - give it all we've got, but there's always a chance this will not go our way.

Things are always 50% chance.

It's always good to have faith that something good will happen to you.  That either a higher power or fate has other plans for you.  It's better than having nothing to believe in or better than only having pure negative thoughts in mind - and be stuck in vicious cycle.

Worst things could happen to you (i.e. losing a child, being cheated on by a partner, getting fired from your job, death of a family member, being a victim of any injustice, etc) .  Life is difficult and may seem unfair at times but instead of focusing on the emotions or the effect on you, you can try your damn best to find out what it is you really DESIRE and what you DREAM about and focus on that.

So instead of dreading to wake up each day, you have your desires and dreams to look forward to the moment you close your eyes.

It gives comfort to know that KARMA exists.  It's not because you want to wish anybody ill after they have done you bad; but it gives you the satisfaction that whatever it is one does, always come back to him/her.  Good or bad.

It is not necessary to suppress emotions after something traumatic happens to you.  It is good to let it out by crying, screaming, or as my old trusted manager and friend always say -- DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET OVER IT.  Go to the mountains.  Go to the beach.  Find people you trust, spend time with them, laugh with them, cry with them.  Exercise your heart and mind out.  Little alcohol is good numbing medicine but other illegal drugs or other risky behavior that may cause you or other people harm will only make things worst not better.  Do these things until you realize that you have excreted all the bad energy and you're ready to re-focus your time and energy again on your Desires and Dreams.

Currently, these are the truths that I hold dear in my heart and serve as strength so I could get over  heartbreak/s.  Whether they work or not, I hope these words can also help another whose also experiencing some struggle in their lives.
